Early in the fall semester of 2007, students participated in a limited survey regarding various aspects of studio culture. They were asked to write "true" or "false" after being exposed to a series of statements. About 77 survey forms were submitted out of a total of approx. 160 students in the department. Below is a chart showing the results. The numbers in the columns represent the total number of actual student replies (they are not percentages). Please feel free to make comments or engage in dialogue about the results.

In regards to questions 12 and 14, I would argue first that kissing up to teachers has a direct effect on grades. We can see that many of the professors in our department do have favorite students who dont necessarily get graded on the quality of their work but on the amiability of their character and other students often times are misunderstood because of their character which in many cases leave their talents neglected instead of nurtured. Secondly, I would argue that in our department females do seem to be treated with more tact and understanding. There have been many situations in which I ,and other males, have been targeted for critique and scrutiny while many of the female students were patronized or even overlooked when it came time to point out faults during a presentation.
I had a deadline to meet on tuesday morning, and around 3:30 a.m. I was kicked out of Bemis. Luckily I was up to par with my work, but many of my classmates were not. I know its a security issue leaving the building open all night, but there has to be something we could do. The same officer that kicked us out this night had let us stay in there on other nights. It didnt make sense. Why the inconsistency. I was hoping my fellow students could keep this issue in mind and try to find a solution. Thanks
blogger1116..you self conscious? Who is your architecture for? The grades define your architecture? Or do you define your architecture? The faculty teach and guide..... everything else is subjective. critiscism at presentations are to teach. take that S*** personal and that is where you go wrong. feel neglected? so what join the rest of the Hampton architecture student body. Design is about learning how to problem solve not praise. suck it up. The rest of us eat it all the time.

Equipment owned by the Department of Architecture Faculty has repeatedly been stolen from offices. The last incident affected me and after it was reported to the Campus Police I was informed that the police will not allow any student in Bemis for any reason after 12:00 A.M..
